¿Telefónica compra Tuenti?
Ayer nos desayunábamos con la noticia/rumor/bulo de que Telefónica estaba en negociaciones para comprar Tuenti, la red social más o menos española, por 80 millones de euros.
Vaya por delante un pequeño disclaimer en el que quiero desmarcarme de la habitual envidia española hacia el triunfador y, para mi, la venta de Tuenti por ese pastizal sería un tremendo y rotundo éxito para sus accionistas. Si lo consiguen, no tendría más que felicitarles y darles la enhorabuena. Eso si, hay algunos aspectos de esta historia que me llaman poderosamente la atención y que no veo explicados en ningún lado.
Por eso, me voy a animar a escribir un artículo sobre el tema que quizás, por mi perfil híbrido y bastardo -a caballo entre el desarrollo puro y duro y el negocio- será vapuleado por unos y otros; gurús de Internet y técnicos alejados del vil metal. Al turrón.
LA TÉCNICA: TUENTI ES UNA PATATA CALIENTE
Si, comienzo con un titular-alla-troll para que empiecen a tirarme piedras: Tuenti esta muerto… o al menos, esta muerto en su estado y concepción actual.
No hago más que escuchar frases cancamusistas y muy “de business y entrepeneurship” del estilo de ‘Tuenti está en declive’ o ‘Hay migración masiva de usuarios a Facebook por el tema de los juegos’ que sólo rascan en la superficie de lo que esta pasando. Es FRUSTANTE ver como se le da vueltas y vueltas a algo que se puede resumir en una única palabra: plataforma.
Por favor, que nadie compare a Facebook y Tuenti. Si, las dos son dos redes sociales, del mismo modo que un Ferrari y un tractor son vehículos de transporte, pero no tienen mucho que ver. Facebook es una verdadera plataforma de desarrollo y Tuenti NO.
Nadie puede desarrollar aplicaciones para Tuenti excepto la propia gente de Tuenti. Eso les da la exclusiva a la hora de vender desarrollos de aplicaciones corporativas o publicitarias pero, desde mi punto de vista, es un tremendo error cuando compites contra gigantes con recursos limitados. El éxito de Facebook ha sido conseguir que todo un ecosistema de third-parties desarrolle aplicaciones para la plataforma GRATIS.
Cada vez que alguien desarrolla una nueva aplicación para Facebook, Dios mata a aun gatito… y Tuenti pierde más y más valor.
No puedo cerrar esta primera parte del artículo sin hablar de las aportaciones técnicas de unos y otros. Mientras en el mundo del desarrollo se oyen rumores sobre los ENORMES problemas de escalabilidad de Tuenti y su supuesto PHP spaghetti, de Facebook nos llegan noticias de relumbrón técnico como la creación de su propio compilador ultrarapido de PHP o la base de datos Cassandra, que encima donan a la comunidad y que ya utilizan otras “pequeñas webs” como Twitter o Digg.
¿Quiere decir esto que los programadores de Facebook son muy buenos y los de Tuenti auténticos paquetes? Pues no. Al final todo es cuestión de lo mismo: pasta. Dales pasta, tiempo y recursos a la gente de Tuenti y seguro que te hacen un Facebook. El problema es que Facebook… ya existe.
En mi defensa, he de decir que ya decía lo mismo hace casi medio año en este mismo blog.
EL NEGOCIO: ¿ESTÁN LOCOS ESTOS ROMANOS?
Vale, 80 millones de euros. La pregunta es ¿Por qué 80 y no 40… o 362? Nos hemos acostumbrado a escuchar estas cifras mareantes en la venta de aplicaciones y servicios en Internet y, como en el cuento del traje nuevo del emperador, parece que nadie quiere ser el primero en decir ‘¿Pero no os dais cuenta de que 80 millones de euros es MUCHISIMO dinero?‘.
En este punto es donde los gurús, visionarios 2.0 y marketing ninjas empiezan a confundirme con palabros como ‘sinergia’, ‘posicionamiento’ o ‘time-to-market‘, pero yo -que debo ser bastante más limitado- voy a intentar hacer la cuenta de la vieja, a ver si me salen los números. Acompañarme en la aventura. Seguro que disfrutáis viendo como me despeño en el intento.
Tuenti vs Facebook en España. Ayayayayayayay...
Vamos a ver… yo le pago a Telefónica 9 euros mensuales por mi linea de móvil personal, que apenas uso porque siempre tengo conectada la de la empresa. Así que he llegado a la conclusión de que soy un usuario-bicoca para Telefónica, porque pago por nada, por no disfrutar de ningún servicio. 9 euros al mes son 108 euros al año. Una pasta.
Haciendo la cuenta de la vieja, para financiar la compra de Tuenti debería estar pagando a Telefónica durante 740.000 años. O que 150.000 pardillos como yo estuviéramos pagando religiosamente a Telefónica durante 5 años… y 150.000 son MUCHOS PARDILLOS. De hecho, mi optimista confianza en la Humanidad me impide creer que haya 150.000 personas tan pardillas como yo.
Bueno, vale, parece que esas cifras no superan la Prueba del Pardillato, pero es que, a lo mejor, Tuenti (y Telefónica de paso) saben algo que nosotros desconocemos: como convertir Tuenti en una mina de oro, con un modelo de negocio ultra-revolucionario.
Como yo no llego a tanto, me voy a limitar a estudiar las cifras que son públicas y están disponibles en Internet para todo el mundo.
Se supone que Tuenti tiene, mas o menos, 8 millones de usuarios (ese más o menos puede ser -más o menos- del tamaño de Australia) por lo que la cifra de compra que ha salido en los medios valora a cada usuario en 10 euros.
Bueno, una valoración es una valoración y es igual de buena que cualquier otra. Cuando en 2007 Microsoft adquirió un pequeño porcentaje de Facebook, lo hizo con un precio de compra que valoraba en 398 dólares cada usuario. Dos años después, se hizo una ampliación de capital en donde se valoraba a cada usuario en… 50 dolares, es decir, 8 veces menos.
El hecho es que, si se pagan 10 euros por usuario de Tuenti y nadie se echa las manos a la cabeza es porque, supuestamente, se puede recuperar la inversión. ¿Cómo? Ni idea, así que una vez más voy a tirar de Internet y de datos públicos.
La información sobre la publicidad en Tuenti es bastante críptico. De hecho la página sobre publicidad del sitio sólo te dice ‘¡Contacta con nosotros!’, pero como no tengo tiempo para contactar con ellos, voy a utilizar los datos públicos de su principal competidor: (lo habéis adivinado) Facebook.
El modelo principal de negocio de Facebook se basa en el cobro por CPM (tarifa por imprimir 1000 veces tu anuncio) y el CPC (tarifa por cada click en tu anuncio).
Al igual que Google con su AdSense y AdWords, Facebook dispone de un sistema de pujas para que insertes tu publicidad en la plataforma. Creo que tienen establecida una puja mínima de 1 céntimo, pero ellos mismos establecen una puja recomendada, para ‘asegurarte’ una mínima posibilidad de publicar publicidad.
El ingreso por CPM ni lo considero por usuario, porque es despreciable (en muchos foros he leído que Facebook ha llegado a aceptar pujas de CPM a 2 céntimos) y, en el caso del CPC, la puja recomendada empieza en 0.05/0.16€ como se puede leer en un comentario de este blog de McCann Erickson.
Si esas cifras son ciertas y Tuenti vende publicidad a precio de mercado, un usuario debería clickar un mínimo de 62 veces en un anuncio para comenzar a ser rentable. Hombre… yo no soy usuario de Tuenti, pero si de Facebook y, después de 4 años, no creo que haya clickado ni 4 veces en algún anuncio. Los ratios de conversión, son bajísimos.
Por supuesto, estas cifras son DEMASIADO simplistas. Seguro que Tuenti vende, lanza y monetiza campañas de publicidad a medida, pero esas campañas hay que venderlas, así que, si alguien me pidiera que invirtiera mi dinero en Tuenti a 10 euros el usuario… tendría que pensarme muy mucho, no ya si la inversión es buena, sino si es la MEJOR inversión que puedo hacer con mi dinero.
Por un lado, no debemos olvidar que, hasta ahora, Tuenti no ha dado más que perdidas. Por otro lado ¿Por qué Tuenti? ¿Por qué Internet? Como trabajadores de este medio, muchas veces nos cegamos con los negocios online pero, hoy por hoy, si tuvierais 300.000 euros para invertir ¿los invertiríais en compraros 30.000 usuarios de Tuenti o en montar una franquicia de McDonalds, por ejemplo?
Si todos, o casi todos,elegís la segunda opción ¿Por qué no debería hacerlo una gran empresa como Telefónica? A sí, se me había olvidado… sinergias, posicionamiento, time-to-market…
EL ESCÁNDALO: EL VOCENTOGATE
Y por si esto fuera poco, estalla el Vocentogate. Un lío de proporciones bíblicas del que nos advierte María Rosa Diez a través de su blog.
Malvados directivos de Vocento, riéndose mientras planean dominar el mundo...
Parece ser que, finalmente, todo ha sido un bulo/lío/bola de nieve donde están implicados 11870, idealista.com, Carlos Blanco, la caché de Yahoo! y, si me apuras, hasta el Papa.
Sinceramente, me he leído el artículo de María Rosa dos veces y sigo sin enterarme de mucho, pero creo que lo que insinúa es que el Grupo Vocento pudo haber lanzado el bulo de la compra de Tuenti por Telefónica para crear mala imagen de Tuenti y que así no lo compre nadie. ¡Madre mía! ¡Que emoción! Esto pasa en Estados Unidos y en Hollywood hacen una película.
La historia ha llegado lejos y es mencionada hasta en Techcrunch, donde califican al bueno de Carlos de ‘vociferous‘, que me parece un termino de lo mas divertido.
LA CONCLUSIÓN: SI PERO…
La conclusión, si es que la hay, ¿es que Tuenti es una basura y Telefónica despilfarra el dinero? Pues… no. Yo no creo que Tuenti sea una basura. Una red social no tiene porque ser global para que tenga un relativo éxito, como nos muestra el ejemplo de Orkut.
Eso si, si fuera accionista de la compañía, admitiría una ampliación de capital para conseguir la pasta suficiente para convertirlo en una verdadera plataforma de desarrollo. ¿Que cuanta pasta necesitaría para eso? No tengo ni idea pero, desde luego, no 80 millones de euros.
Por dejaros con una última cifra absurda, con un coste empresa de 80.000 euros/hombre de media (y ya es una buena media). Con 80 millones de euros podría pagar a un ejercito de 500 programadores durante 2 años. Para pensárselo ¿verdad?

Tal vez el motivo de porque querría Telefónica (o Movistar) comprar Tuenti es que:
- Han determinado que necesitan tener una red social porque son uno de los principales (o tal vez el principal) proveedor de comunicaciones del mundo de habla hispana, (ESTRATEGIA)
- Evaluaron que desarrollar una red desde cero lleva tiempo. (TIME TO MARKET)
- Evaluaron que comprar una red existente es más barato que hacerla. (DINERO)
Interesante… la pregunta es ¿Por qué quiere Telefónica una red social? Es más ¿para que quiere CONTROLARLA? ¿no verías mucho mas interesante que se hiciera con una participación -aunque fuera minoritaria- de Facebook o Twitter?
Porque vamos, tal como lo veo yo, Tuenti no está para comprar y exprimir, sino para echarle paladas de pasta. Por otro lado ¿tienes datos de la penetración de Tuenti en LATAM? Juraría que uno de sus problemas es que es MUY local, muy español.

Boquiabierta me quedo con todo tu desarrollo y raciocinio! Como dice Dani, le has debido dar muchas vueltas.
Todos estos rumores es, después de todo, una forma de llamar la atención a todo Internet y la posibilidad de que puedan surgir (quizás, quizás) futuros interesados en Tuenti.
Solo especulo, cuando digo que la estrategia es "quiero una red social" no tengo idea de porque.. se me ocurre:
- está de moda
- por ahí pasará la venta de publicidad en el futuro
- mucho del ancho de banda consumido será a causa de las redes sociales. Y si cobro por el tráfico (Alierta quiere eso) a google, a facebook y a tuenti no.. gran ventaja, porque puedo vender ADSL a 50 x mes tráfico incluido a Tuenti y 10 extras si querés Google o Facebook
- gobiernos de LATAM que quieren tener contraladas los medios de comunicación podrían ver con buenos ojos esto y así no molestar más a la empresa de capital extranjero! (muy conspirativo)
Tuenti en LATAM no existe, pero seguro que es más fácil eso que con otras cosas y Telefónica (perdón, Movistar) tiene mucha presencia en LATAM
Participar en Facebook o Twitter tal vez no le conviene.. le saldría muy caro solo para apuntarle a una porción de sus usuario (si solo le interesan los hispanoparlantes).
Bueno, muy difícil escribir pensamientos tan volados que corresponden a una mesa de café y que carecen del rigor necesario como para ser una análisis serio del negocio.

Coincido contigo casi en todo. Creo que Tuenti tiene recorrido a pesar de Facebook pero sigo pensando que, o abren APIs… o se acabo.
Respecto al problema de personal que me comentas que tienen en Tuenti ¡Que no se preocupen! Yo se lo puedo solucionar en un par de días por un módico precio. De momento, les doy dos consejos gratis:
1. Que utilicen Jobsket :P
2. Que paguen MAS.
Es sorprendente lo mucho que atrae a los buenos programadores el hecho de que reconozcan su trabajo… y lo paguen (doy por supuesto que todo el mundo se va a casa a su hora y que tienen un buen ambiente de trabajo porque hay camisetas, futbolines y neveras…)

En este tipo de casos me gusta contar el cuento del traductor de inglés.
Un traductor de inglés desea aumentar sus clientes y decide hacer TRADUCCIONES GRATIS en la plaza del pueblo, se corre la voz y más y más gente acude a que le traduzca sus textos, la cola se hace interminable, los traductores profesionales que cobran están cabreados porque les ha quitado todo su trabajo y están pensando en hacer lo mismo, se habla de que la traducción ya no es un negocio y debe darse de forma gratuita.
El traductor al principio es feliz porque ve su enorme cola de clientes, pero obviamente necesita comer y pagar el piso, pagar el papel y los bolis (porque todo se ofrece gratis), el ayuntamiento dice que será gratis pero que hay que pagar algun tipo de licencia, por otra parte empiezan a surgir las quejas de la gente, demasiada gente y el traductor no da abasto y su servicio empieza a resentirse en calidad. Está claro que necesita DINERO para pagar sus gastos y para contratar más gente, pero si se puso a hacer traducciones gratis es que el negocio no andaba bien antes por lo que necesita INVERSORES.
Los inversores ven esa enorme cola y ven un enorme POTENCIAL de negocio y entregan ese dinero al traductor con la expectativa de que se devuelva multiplicado por 10.
Entonces surge el problema de DEVOLVER el dinero invertido en un servicio GRATUITO.
Y de ahí surge el tema de añadir publicidad en cada hoja traducida, tener el derecho de los textos que se traducen y venderlos de alguna manera a otros, ¿es suficiente unos centimillos por cada hoja?, a lo mejor hay que plantearse "subscripciones premium" sin publicidad o dando prioridad a los premium o quitando la limitación de una hoja traducida por día (en el caso de los gratis). Entre la publicidad, la pérdida de privacidad, las limitaciones a lo gratis (esperar más porque los premium tienen prioridad, una sola hoja etc) la cola empieza a decrecer… al final se acaba viendo al usuario gratuito como un consumidor de recursos respecto a los premium que son los que verdaderamente mantienen el negocio y al final el negocio cada vez más y más se parece a un negocio… CONVENCIONAL, es decir, yo pago a cambio de algo.
A ver cuando prospera el modelo de negocio "1$ for one year" (por poner un ejemplo) y nos dejamos de tonterías.
Si… evidentemente. Esto ha generado mucho ruido. Ha salido en Techcrunch así que, a nivel de negocios en Internet, pocas vueltas más le puede quedar a la noticia.
Ahora, que eso vaya a llamar la atención de posibles inversores despistaos no se yo…

De lo que me cuentas de Tuenti Sitios, Tuenti Páginas y demás… ni idea. Yo me meto de vez en cuando en la pestaña 'Desarrolladores' de Tuenti y me encuentro con un blog. Eso, de momento, esta a años luz de Facebook o Twitter. Por no tener, no tienen ni OAuth. Aunque a lo mejor tu tienes más información de la que yo dispongo, malandrín ;)
Claro que mis cifras son simplistas. Son ESPECÍFICAMENTE simplistas… esperando que la gente las rebata proporcionando en los comentarios sus propias metodologías de calculo. Bien sabes que tanto tu como yo estamos deseando conocer más y más maneras de construir business plans para startups en Internet :)
Respecto al punto número 5, dedicado con amor a Carlos Blanco… ¡es Carlos Blanco!. Es chouman y divertido y, a veces estoy de acuerdo con lo que dice y a veces no, pero por el momento no me parece muy opaco. Es lo que ves.
No es que ponga en duda La Conspiración, es que necesito alguna prueba o dato mas para darle total y absoluto crédito.

Primero, yo llamé a Nielsen ayer, y segundo y más importante, esta es la noticia de hace pocos días donde Vocento, basándose en Nielsen, se halaga a sí mismo:

Con lo que, por lo menos bajo mi opinión, alguien que lanza esos bulos por twitter creyendo que somos tontos o que no le vamos a pillar, es alguien que muy bien puede lanzar bulos como el que he demostrado en mi blog.

Telefónica NO quiere comprar Tuenti (en serio, de verdad de la buena)
Telefónica ya ha intentado/intenta tener una red social: Keteké (oh, sí, quizá ni os suena xD). Ah, por cierto… la han desarrollado desde cero. Les salió cara, pero haciendo balance creo que esos 80M€ no son mucho más barato que lo que les ha costado.

El sábado leí los primeros rumores en twitter, y a la hora o así alguno ya se disculpaba porque al parecer el rumor era falso XD. Y no, no tengo ni idea si es verdad o no, a mi personalmente me importa bastante poco. Y como díría Jack el destripador, vayamos por partes ;)
Para mi una venta por esos números me parecería un pelotazo más que un éxito, lo que sí me iba a parecer un éxito es que hicieran de Tuenti un negocio. Últimamente sus novedades parecen ir buscando eso, veremos que tal evolucionan. Que me llamen corto de vista, pero ese pastizal(o mis 300000€ :P) no irían para un "saco de gente", por mucho que mole y mucho que lo use la gente.
La verdad que no he oído rumores acerca de la calidad de tuenti como producto(imagino que puede ser un rumor entre desarrolladores que estéis por Madrid). Pero lo que sí sé, es que no encuentran técnicos cualificados(hace unas semanas me reía leyendo a alguien de tuenti, decía que en españa no hay técnicos cualificados y tienen que buscar fuera… pero ese sería otro tema), osea que más que un problema de pasta, parece que por la razón que sea tienen un grave problema para encontrar talento.
Y yo no veo que el que tuenti tenga que competir con facebook, cada uno lee las gráficas como quiere, y yo veo que tuenti sigue subiendo XD. Tampoco veo que el no ser una plataforma sea algún tipo de limitación, a la gente que más le gusta tuenti(hablando de gente que yo conozco, que son auténticos yonkis!! XD) es porque es sencillo y con las opciones justas, son los usuarios más fieles porque facebook es "demasiado difícil para compartir fotos y comunicarme con los amigos".
Sobre el "escándalo" y toda la rumorología de la compra, enseguida pasé olímpicamente del tema, he leído un par de cosillas y da la impresión de egos saliendo a relucir para ver quien es el más listo(con un tufillo en el ambiente a que algunos no se deben llevar muy bien)… Vamos, que si no eres tú el que escribe el post, no me molesto en contestar :P
Perdonad mi ignorancia pero respecto al supuesto bulo con el fin de dañar a Tuenti, yo entiendo que cuando hay un rumor de compra de una empresa pequeña por otra más grande por una cantidad considerada excesiva, casi siempre se considera como una noticia POSITIVA para la empresa que quiere ser comprada, en bolsa casi siempre (no hay nunca que hacer afirmaciones definitivas) supone una subida como la espuma de la empresa comprada.
Concluyendo, si Telefónica no desmiente el supuesto bulo, el resultado final es que cualquiera creerá que Tuenti vale MUCHO MAS de 80 millones de euros y eso es todo un regalo a los de Tuenti, por lo que si el objetivo era crear una mala imagen de Tuenti, desde luego desde un punto de vista puramente mercantil (desde el punto de vista de Tuenti buscando el mejor postor) me parece un completo error.
Telefonica ha desmentido el bulo.

Con unos beneficios de 6.253 millones de euros, 80 millones más o menos no es que sea un graaaan desembolso para Telefónica. Además la rentabilidad no sólo se mide en lo que saque con publi. Telefónica tendría acceso a muchísimos usuarios españoles a los que colarles su branding y promociones a través de tuenti, que eso no se mide en CPC

Realmente, el artículo iba más encaminado a hablar de las cifras en general de las ofertas de compra y venta de sitios webs y de intentar dilucidar como se hacen las valoración de la mismas. Creo que hay demasiado secretismo en los números del mundo web.
De soslayo nos encontramos con el Vocentogate. Tu, aportas datos y es más TE MOJAS en tu propio blog, así que tengo un impulso natural a creerte.
Pero también estoy con Arranz ¿De verdad el rumor/bulo de compra de Tuenti supone publicidad negativa? Si "suena" que Telefónica les quiere comprar ¿no les confiere eso más credibilidad? Sólo puedo entender que les perjudique si alguien estaba pensando en comprarles por 40 millones de euros, por ejemplo, pero supongo que, a esos niveles, los inversores tendrá info de primerísima mano…

Para mi, el problema es que no me creo los 8 millones de *usuarios* (podría creerme 8 millones de *cuentas*) ni los 80 minutos (en otro sitios he oído 2 horas). Sinceramente creo que lo único que hay son conjeturas y que mientras Tuenti no dé números "oficiales" cualquier dato de estos merece poca confianza.
Yo no descartaría la clásica táctica de "dí que X te quiere comprar para que a Y se le despierte el interés por hacerlo". Vamos, que bien podría salir todo el rumor de Tuenti mismo.
insisto, si tienen tanto cash-flow ¿Por qué no se compran twitter o algo que les aporte más valor?
En cualquier caso, en lo que estoy muy interesado es en que la gente rebata las cifras de todo a 100 que he puesto. El objetivo principal del artículo es que alguien lo enriqueciera mostrando al público en general como se calculan esas cifras de compra.
Podría haber complicado las cuentas mucho más (poniendo gastos fijos, de marketing, etc.) o haciendo cálculos segmentados de CPM y CPC… pero lo que quería era sencillez e inmediatez. Y provocar, si es posible, que alguien me dijera "mira David, estas equivocado y te lo voy a demostrar".
Parto de la base de que mis cifras son erróneas. Lo que quiero saber es porqué.

Respecto a las cuentas:
Según quién sea el comprador (no le serviría lo mismo tuenti a Telefónica que a… Facebook, por decir algo xD), 10€ por **usuario** es un precio caro pero "aceptable". Sin embargo, creo que deberíamos pensar que, ante la falta de mejores datos por parte de Tuenti, lo que Tuenti podría aportar son 8 millones de **cuentas**, lo cual es bastante diferente. No ya porque no conozcamos la calidad (fidelidad, actividad) de los usuarios, sino porque cuentas incluye múltiples cuentas por usuario, cuentas abandonadas, etc.
En cuanto al tema de triunfo vs. pelotazo, yo lo siento pero por mucho pelotazo que den vendiendo Tuenti, seguiré sin llamarlo éxito. Llámame moralista o lo que sea, pero no me verás admirando a quien hace un timo, por muy espectacular que sea el timo. (Disclaimer: No digo que esto sea un timo, sólo que la clásica estrategia de "monto una empresa para que la forma de ganar dinero sea vender la empresa y que otro encuentre cómo ganar dinero con la empresa" me parece… triste)

Por cierto hoy ha dado más detalles que diluyen cada vez más el "presuntamente".
Partiendo de esta base, hablar de todo lo demás es una estupidez. La cifra de 80M€ es mentira. Tampoco habría que juzgar el posible interés de Telefónica porque sería mentira también.

1. No tienen una plataforma… de momento. Han sacado ya "Tuenti Sitios" y "Tuenti Páginas", y el API público probablemente no tardará en llegar.
2. Sobre los posibles problemas de escalabilidad o de código, el usuario no los percibe. Lo que sí percibe el usuario es que la interfaz de usuario de Tuenti es mucho mejor que la de Facebook. Y esto lo piensa mucha gente.
3. Sobre el valor de Tuenti. Evidentemente está en el tráfico, lo cual se convierte en dinero a través de la publicidad. Tu análisis del rendimiento de la publicidad me parece demasiado simplista. Para empezar, aunque Google y Facebook usen CPC, muchísimos medios usan CPM (algo que obviamente les beneficia), con lo que no hace falta que hagas click. Por otro lado, Tuenti tiene formatos publicitarios totalmente distintos y, en mi opinión, más acertados para su target.
4. Sobre los usuarios de uno y otro: Tuenti es líder indiscituble en un segmento de edad, de "diecipocos a veintipocos". Facebook lo es en el otro. ¿En qué segmento hay más gente en general, y por tanto, más usuarios en la red correspondiente? ¿Valen más los usuarios de un sitio u otro? Pues eso, mucho cuidado asumir según que cosas. Y si no pregúntale por ejemplo a AXE qué segmento prefiere. O en general a cualquier anunciante, qué segmento es más fácil de fidelizar, o cuál es más receptivo a campañas publicitarias. Pues eso.
5. El resto de cosas… pues qué quieres que te diga. Me parece muy fuerte (peor aún conociendo los motivos) que alguien pueda afirmar en su blog que (y cito textualmente, faltas ortográficas incluídas) "según uno de los business angels más importantes del mercodo español, Tuenti ya ha iniciado su cuenta atras y el jamas invertiría en una empresa que ha perdido el liderato". ¿Qué debo decir yo ante esto? ¿Amén? Creo que queda claro que Tuenti no necesita competir contra Facebook, ya que en su nicho es líder. Y sobre la migración, habrá gente que te dirá que los que están en Tuenti entran a Facebook únicamente para tener una granja.

En el lado de los usuarios "generalistas", sólo hay que ver la cantidad de comentarios negativos que ha generado el bulo. Portales generalistas como meneame u otros foros donde se echan pestes de la supuesta operación.
En el lado de la gente que estamos más metidos en la Red, como tú y yo, por ejemplo, puede quedarse la impresión de:
a) Que Telefónica no les quiso por 80 millones. Así que la valoración debe de ser más baja.
b) Que fueron los de tuenti los que lanzaron ese rumor para venderse y les ha salido mal.
Habría sido un paso en falso.
¿Qué sentido tendría que los de Tuenti lanzaran ese rumor si luego no se confirma?
Creo que echar la culpa ahora al propio Tuenti es echar balones fuera.
Pero como te dije, estamos hablando de un bulo, no de una posible venta. Y las razones del bulo, como bien dices, ya las expuse en mi blog.

La cuestión no es que Tuenti me dé números oficiales a mi, a ti o al gran público. Es si los ha dado a quien le quiere comprar.
Nosotros sólo podemos especular pero en el caso de que un "Telefónica" (por suponer :-) ) quisiera comprarla, puedes estar seguro de que lo harán con datos (NDA mediante y todo eso).
La mitad del negocio es generar interés con números altos. La otra mitad es mantener la credibilidad de esos números cuando el comprador te audita.
Te voy a dar dos datos para que le des algo más de crédito (dos por el precio de uno :-)
- en el post donde lanza el bulo, lo primero que dice es que su fuente es un email anónimo. Es muy raro que alguien se base en una fuente "tan fiable" para publicar algo tan relevante.

Telefónica quiere una red social (¿por qué? no está claro, pero la quiere…) y la suya no ha conseguido coger tracción (usuarios)… que es lo difícil.
Me comentaban hoy "mis fuentes" que la sesión media en Tuenti es de 80 minutos… (¿no es una barbaridad?) ya no es sólo los 8 millones de usuarios, es el uso que hacen de Tuenti… eso es algo que telefónica tendría muy difícil conseguir.

Si googleas verás que muchos portales se han puesto en contacto con el departamento de prensa de movistar y esta lo ha desmentido categoricamente.

Primero disculpas que no he tenido tiempo de leer todo con detalle (falta del tiempo)
David, yo estoy contigo en que yo me lo pensaría dos veces antes de gastarme 80 millones € en tuenti pero también desconocemos los estudios de rentabilidad que habrán realizado (imagino que alguno habrán hecho) para ver el beneficio que le sacaran.
Pero a lo que iba, buscando un rápidamente un par de enlaces sobre el gasto en publicidad (http://www.ontsi.red.es/sector-tic/indicator/id/563/gasto-publicidad-el-sector-las-telecomunicaciones-audiovisual-internet-.html) y que la M de Movistar costó 75 Millones € (http://www.ontsi.red.es/sector-tic/indicator/id/563/gasto-publicidad-el-sector-las-telecomunicaciones-audiovisual-internet-.html) y lo que les debe estar constando la actual campaña que esta en todos los medios, pues no me parece un gasto muy desorbitado los 80 millones que puede costar tuenti y el provecho que le sacar. De todas formas yo no soy un experto en marketing, sólo he buscado unos cuantos números sobre los gastos que tiene.
Pd: No he podido constatar la veracidad y la exactitud de los enlaces puestos.

Utilizar jobsket SIEMPRE es una buena opción para identificar el talento XD. Aunque sospecho que su problema puede andar más por donde insinúa Abel.
Creo que fue hace un par de años o así que escuché por primera vez que tuenti buscaba gente(en cada charla suya en la que he estado lo han dicho), y por lo que sé, han llamado en puertas de algunos buenos desarrolladores y no han conseguido contratarlos… eso provoca en mi que no me parezca un sitio especialmente atractivo dónde trabajar.
Hombre, hasta ahí llego. Pero lo que digo, precisamente, es que todas esas "fuentes" que se oyen por ahí contando cosas sobre el número de usuarios o la duración media de las sesiones o la edad o lo que sea, no pasan de ser especulaciones que para mi no tienen ninguna fiabilidad.

Para otros emprender no quiere decir hacer algo que parezca que vale sino hacer algo que realmente valga.

Hombre Venkman tu reflexión invita a pensar que los compradores de esas empresas son idiotas y ciertamente en los tiempos de la burbuja del 2000 la mayoría no sólo eran idiotas eran imbéciles integrales y se tragaban cualquier cosa, hoy las cosas han cambiado y son más excepticos, pero el principio es el mismo, la empresa compradora lo que entiende es que la empresa comprada tiene un POTENCIAL mayor que el valor actual y que dentro de la empresa compradora hay mayores posibilidades de rentabilizarla.
Y a veces visto en perspectiva esos 80 millones para algunas empresas son verdadera calderilla y en cierto modo la compra de la empresa no es muy diferente a comprar un décimo de lotería, el coste apenas se va a sentir en las cuentas de Telefónica (o de cualquier otro grande) hay muchas posibilidades de que no toque… pero ¿Y SI TOCA? :)
Sólo un apunte. A veces una empresa no da beneficios porque no tiene el potencial suficiente para crecer. Por ejemplo, puedes tener un producto cojo**do y no tener un pavo para hacer el marketing adecuado.
Eso lo puede ver una empresa grande y decidir engullir al pez chico para darle 'hormonas de crecimiento'.
No creo que cada compra de una empresa no rentable sea un pufo. Eso si, hay mucho gurú de Internet montando empresas sólo para buscar un exit (venta)…
jmarranz, es que son los mismos los compradores de ahora y los compradores de entonces. Y ahora son más escépticos, sí, pero eso lo único que significa es que hay que pintarlo más bonito que antes.
Pero de todos modos, no hablaba de la parte del comprador… supongo que se podría decir que "él sabrá lo que hace". De lo que hablaba es de la "moralidad" del vendedor.
Es alucinante el poder de manipulación de los medios de comunicación, que están aliados con personas capaces de propagar rumores simplemente por intereses económicos y personales, manipulando a la opinión pública.
La estrategia de este bulo ha sido crear una mala imagen de Tuenti.
¿Nadie ha oído que Vodafone incluiría a Tuenti entre las aplicaciones incluidas en sus terminales? No se puede lanzar esta noticia, que además venía por parte de la propia compañía, y luego creerse un tipo de noticia como ésta. Los motivos no están claros, al menos para muchos de nosotros, pero esperemos a que se diga la verdad sobre esto…

No tengo ni idea de Tuenti. Tampoco tengo idea de Facebook. Lo único que puedo añadir es que no se pueden comparar una con la otra ya que tampoco compiten con las mismas condiciones (aunque compitan en el mismo mercado).
Las cargas fiscales de Tuenti son muchísimo más axfisiantes que las de Facebook. Tanto es así, que hace poco, me hablaban de que a Tuenti se le obliga a cumplir con una política de protección de datos (por ser una empresa española) que no se parece, ni de lejos, a la política de protección de datos que debe cumplir Facebook (por ser norteamericana).
Esto hace que Tuenti deba gastar (y no invertir) mucho más dinero, en "cosas", que Facebook ni se plantea. Lo de la LOPD es un ejemplo, pero ocurre con infinidad de cosas más.
Más flexibilidad para las empresas españolas ya!!!
Esto es lo que pasa cuando alguien que no tiene ni **** idea de economía intenta hacerse el sabio. Telefonica ha comprado esta plataforma como trampolin nacional a sus tarifas de servicios de internet móviles, porque sí, no solo hay "150.000 pardillos como tú", si no que puede haber bastantes miles mas, y con tarifas más caras y absurdas, y si no mira a los supermegacoolgeeks que contrataron una sablante tarifa por tener el iPhone, y estan pagando tarifa de internet cara de cojones. Y créeme, hay muchísimos mas de 150.000 iPhones en este país de pandereta.
Cuando sepas mas del 5% de la información financiera, más allá de la que hay cara a la galería entenderás. Todo.
Tienes razón. No debo tener ni **** de economía porque no tengo ni idea de lo que me estás hablando.
¿Comparas Tuenti con el iPhone? ¿Me lo puedes explicar? Telefonica se benefició del iPhone porque lo vendía en exclusiva ¿insinúas que va a proporcionar Tuenti en exclusiva a sus clientes? Pero… ¿eso no sería cargarse Tuenti? ¿no utiliza la gente Tuenti para estar en contacto con sus amigos, utilicen estos Movistar, Vodafone u Orange?
Es evidente que soy un lerdo y que, además de las sinergias, valores añadidas y demás estrategias 2.0 de todo a 100 que cualquiera puede aprender leyendo un par de blogs TU sabes algo más que el resto de nosotros :)

Aún así, sigo sin comprender las magnitudes económicas del acuerdo. Quiero decir… CONOZCO todas las teorías de manual de compra y venta de startups pero sigo sin entender que algo valga X porque en la última ronda de financiación alguien pagó X. Hasta ahora nadie ha conseguido explicar esos términos más allá de que, para Telefonica, 70 millones de € son nada…
De la primicia de Carlos Blanco y el Vocentogate de Maria Rosa Diaz no se ni que opinar… como también puse en los primeros comentarios de este artículo, la opinión de Carlos merecía respeto porque la había respaldado publicándola en su blog. Por otro lado, Maria Rosa parecía tener mucha más información que tu, yo y el resto de los mortales.
